"My upbringing taught me that America was special and different from the rest of the world, and also a real sense that you can lose your country," Rubio said in an interview this week.
But the visa documents cast clearer divisions between his parents, who came for economic reasons, and the Cubans who scrambled to leave their homeland but thought they could soon return. And the documents come to light amid new discrepancies since Rubio's time line came under scrutiny last week.

"It was one of those things where they really didn't share much information," said Mario Rubio, who is 61 and lives in Jacksonville. "Their whole life was trying to make a better life for us."
The Rubios filled out applications for immigrant visas and alien registration, not tourist visas. "That expresses an intention to remain indefinitely," said Joseph Reina, an immigration lawyer in Dallas.

Is Senator Rubio going to support citizenship for anchor babies? The Dream Act? Public education? What a hypocrite!!!

1. If a child is an "anchor baby", does not that child already have citizenship? If so, what does

so the kid has to leave the US or stay without mom.

Also, if there is no proof the parents are citizens, some of the kids have to pay out-of-state tuition, or can't get enrolled in school, or public health services. Some states use school enrollment or visits to the doctors to find the undocumented even though most schools and doctors don't cooperate. Attempts to make it criminal if the agency doesn't turn in the parents have failed for the most part. I'm not a lawyer, so I can't tell you why.

When the kid becomes an adult, they may be citizen even though that is challenged by some state legislators as not "naturally born". Birthers don't think that Rubio is a US citizen!!!

If the adult kid is a citizen, they have some limited ability to invite immediate relatives (parent, wife, child) to also become citizens - so there's an attempt to deport the parents and get the kid out of the US before they can gain official citizen status...
