1. Wait until she runs for President.
There'll be an even bigger crowd.

And these, the good people who were there with Ms. Warren at the beginning, will be remembered as those who were first to help when she asked for a Champion.

5. Warren will be first female POTUS
2016 A few years in the Senate will be enough.
Think it's crazy talk? Some people said Obama would be POTUS back in 2004 and they were called nuts.
By 2016 the real battle will be within the democratic party--between the republican wing and the progressive wing.
Time marches on--always. As the boomers get replaced by the Gen xers and millenials, the recoil against all things GOP gets stronger, not weaker.

14. That's a very good point
Edited on Wed Oct-26-11 01:16 PM by KatyMan
The 21ish year olds of today really are color/gender/sex/nationality blind, at least the ones I'm exposed to. Take all those things out of the political equation and the landscape is vastly different. That's why the Rs are so vicious, this is their last chance, really. They only have a few election cycles left. They have to get in now and enact legislation that will reflect their bigoted viewpoint and ensure that those who oppose it can't get enough votes to repeal it.

Edited to add, that's why getting out the young vote in 2012 is one of the most important things we can do.

15. It ain't the boomers
We were the ones in the streets against the Vietnam War. It's no one particular age group. Paul Ryan is young enough to be my son. It's just corporatists against the rest of us, and too few of us of all ages vote to protect our own best interests.

:hi:

That would be correct.

20. True. The corporatists began infiltrating the dem party & Clinton was one of them
His benefactors are republicans who joined the dem party in the 80's. I know one of their benefactors personally, and it was an intentional corporatist INFILTRATION by republicans into the dem ranks. They slung money at every corporatist candidate's race.

They will continue to do so until money is taken out of politics.

39. Do you want to know why?
My ex-in-laws who were life long repubs (Nixon should have burned those tapes) left the repub party, some where in the mid to late 80's. Know why? The religious crazies were taking over the party (they were Unitarians). They stopped donating money, and quite party seats, and told them, quite frankly, they were done with the Republican party.

21. I'll support her
I didn't get on the Obama bandwagon until 2006, so I don't want to be late to the party again this time.

I'm with you on this one, Warren For POTUS in '16.

Now who do we want as her V.P.? Janet Napolitano? Resume includes: Arizona Governor (executive experience), Head of Homeland Security (keeping us safe), Attorney General of Arizona (tough on crime). She would seem to be very strong in areas where Sen. Warren (by that time) might appear to be less experienced.

Maybe it is just me but that looks like one hell of a ticket.

34. I'm kinda hoping that if Napolitano doesn't retire after Sec of Homeland Security
she goes back to Arizona and takes the governorship away from the idiot she left in charge.

That way, the next time I am driving through Arizona, I might actually stop.

49. I can respect that

It seems like a step backward for her but I can sympathize with your position.

Besides, the odds of me getting the V.P. choice right 5 years out are so small that you should find it reassuring that I picked her.

"As the boomers get replaced by the Gen xers and millenials, the recoil against all things GOP gets stronger, not weaker." Just gotta love those ageist stereotypes with a small dose of relief that we'll all be dying off soon. :wtf:

43. With Alan Grayson as VP
Alan would then make a great Pres after the 2-terms for Warren. 16 years. Maybe that would be enough time to correct all the inequities since 1980.

50. I don't think experience is an advantage anymore...
The more years you are in Congress, that's just more time for the corporations
to cajole you into selling your soul.

I would be fine with a Presidential candidate who had absolutely NO experience in government. I'm
starting to believe that we need someone who is outside of the system. Most of those inside the
system are corrupt (or not corrupted but powerless).

Warren has an impressive resume---and she has the right conclusions about our current crisis.

That's enough for me.

We sure as hell don't have any current leaders who are willing to stand up for the values in which
Warren believes.
