Militant non-violence is really difficult.
It takes a lot of courage. It takes a lot of discipline. My heart goes out to the brave people of Occupy Oakland and all of the other occupations that are under assault from the state. Be strong!

Solidarity. Occupy Everywhere.

2. My emotions want violence. My reason knows non-violence is the only way. Peace.

4. I keep a
board that someone hit me with years ago, when I marched in a nonviolent protest. Luckily, the fellow struck me over the head, so the only thing broken was the board.

It can indeed be difficult.

6. To be honest there was no way Oakland wasn't going to go violent
I'm not necessarily blaming the "occupiers" either.

Oakland and the people the police are SUPPOSE to serve and protect have been at silent war for ages.
Oakland isn't the safest place on the planet either.

I'm sorry that Occupy Oakland went the way it did, and to me it's CLEAR it's the police who instigated it.

But Oakland is one of those cities where this cant NOT be expected.

What scares me is that Oakland was a test bed... it was the easiest place to set off, and the police are not the nicest...

I just feel like Oakland was a test of what kind of violence the police can get away with.

lord knows I hope im wrong.

7. Then the oakland PD will look darn
silly when those arrested go to court for disobeying laws that do not exist.

Or perhaps those arrested were actually in violation of state and town ordinances?

If so why would they think they would be above the law?
