I am blown away by how similar that footage is to what I've been watching on TV in the last few days.

1. Yeah, and 1968 brought us Nixon, etc. So how do we avoid that? nt

2. Maybe represent the interests of all Americans? Do we need 60 votes in the Senate for that, too? nt

4. We need 60 votes for cloture, so that votes can take place.
Pretty hard to represent all Americans if you can't even get a bill to the Senate floor.

6. I didn't. But the first time I voted, I saw my candidate lose 49 states.
I never want that to happen again.

3. What happened in 68 was a bunch of old union guys in hard hats
moved in first and started fights, giving the cops an excuse to exercise riot control as brutally as they wanted to.

They only exercised it against antiwar people.

7. Let's not go there again. It was a roller-coaster time, in which great strides forward
alternated with great catastrophe.
