Picture from a Marine showing how he feels about what happened to Scott Olsen

You know, if you wanted to put down and discourage a protest, I kind of think that throwing a gas canister at a veteran and sending him to the hospital in critical condition was exactly the wrong way to go about it.

2. They _shot_ him in the head with a projectile of some sort. It was not thrown.
Video of the incident confirms the audible discharge of a weapon or device. http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=8366081">For instance:
The footage captures a loud cracking sound and then a glimpse of Scott Olsen's body collapsing onto the pavement.

Fellow 'Occupy Oakland' protesters scream for a doctor as they carry the former US Marine, unresponsive and bleeding from the head, out of a billowing cloud of tear gas.

Witnesses say he was struck by a "police projectile" but Oakland Police Department is yet to comment.

3. Yep. The thrown cannisters were for those that came to his aid.

5. Yeah, they didn't crack his skull by throwing one.
Tear gas canisters are fired from a weapon.

They're not meant to be fired at humans.

Also, rubber bullets are not meant to be fired at people. They're supposed to be fired at the ground. They're only considered less lethal (NOT non-lethal) after a ricochet.
