1. Non violence is the only way to win this.
I usually like Rall but he's wrong here. Videos of the beatings are viral on YouTube and Facebook. Scott Olsen is all over the internet this week. If the protesters turn violent, this is lost. All this will be for nothing. Fox Snooze will have its story then confirmed that these are nothing but trust fund anarchists out for no good.

Non-violence is the only way we can make a difference with this. The only way these voices will be heard.

2. While I understand the concern and have (honestly) been there ...
The problem is that in this day of "crowd control measures" and corporate media - violence (even defensively) won't work. On the ultimate scale violence can not work - it will only perpetrate more of the same oppression.

If we were to win by violence then "meet the new boss - same as the old boss."
