There is a God, and his initials are I-R-S!
You may remember, if you've been here long enough, when I asked people to nominate the Worst State Legislator in America. And then I told y'all about the one I had at that time--a cocksucker named Phil Hart who, among other atrocities, decided to build himself a nice shiny new log cabin, and stole the logs from state school endowment land. (I have since moved out of his district.) Oh, and he also owes half a million dollars in federal income tax, because he decided that it was unconstitutional so he didn't have to pay it and stopped.

Well...the IRS wants its money. Now.

(also check http://www.cdapress.com on Saturday for our story on it...)

Turns out he's even slimier than we thought. After the IRS started coming after him, he transferred title on the purloined house to his daughter.

2. I'm not an attorney, but I don't believe title transfer prevents the IRS from seizing the house.
Fruits and instrumentality of a crime.

5. That's what the IRS says...
The IRS says the trust he set up is a nominee for Phil Hart, since he continues to live in the home and pays no rent.

3. Republicanism is all about private service.
There's no money in public service. Seriously, name a Republican today that uses his office to really help his constituents...you'd be hard pressed to find one.

6. About the only one I can think of is Sandpoint's state senator
Her name is Shawn Keough. She does a lot for her constituents. (The state redistricting committee redistricted Keough and the state senator for Coeur d'Alene, who is approximately as smart as that big-ass rock in your front yard, into the same district. My state senator announced her retirement the same day the new districts were announced. We know my senator is a dumbass because her favorite thing to do when she's not in Boise is to hold town hall meetings at which she tells people families don't spend money they don't have, so the government should do the same thing. My state senator is a very rich person. She owns a company that sells Honda cars, Honda motorcycles, Honda lawn mowers and Honda generators. The only way a person who has this kind of business survives is if she is able to convince enough people to spend money they don't have. And there is absolutely no difference between a private citizen taking out a loan to buy a car from my idiotic state senator and the government selling a bond to build some road.)

If you go over to project votesmart you'll see Shawn Keough is extremely hardline on abortion, but she represents a place where that viewpoint is mandatory if you want to be dogcatcher.
