When bad gets worse
When bad gets worse
North Side family left reeling after job loss, eviction notice, pregnancy complications, premature birth and, now, inoperable cancer

As he looked in the rearview mirror at his 5-year-old stepdaughter, who seemed unusually quiet in the back seat, David Pierson already had plenty on his mind.

His wife was ill and their prematurely born daughter lay in a neonatal intensive-care unit. He’d finally found a new job, but the eviction notice had arrived first.

...

The kindergartner’s face began to twitch. Pierson stopped the car and got out, only to find that Amaya couldn’t walk properly.

That quick trip to the store for milk last Saturday — one of the few normal tasks the young father had managed to carry out in days — ended at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

There, doctors diagnosed a malignant, inoperable tumor in Amaya’s brain.

Her mother, Trina Pierson, listened to the words and tried to will away their meaning.

4. sometimes they walk upright
but the scars from it will bring them to their knees later.Trauma can do that.During the terrible things you can 'function' but later it all comes back and then, you can't.

2. She works "part time" at Medco which is a Rx insurance company.
Because she's only part time I'm guessing she has no health insurance either.

3. so tragic
and the "Christian" vultures are swooping in to monopolize the comments and promote their "Christian" faith-based junk. It looks like an organized effort by this group to get attention.

This poor family, and these vultures just see this as a PR opportunity.
