Fake Al Qaeda flag on Benghazi Courthouse
AL QAEDA PLANTS ITS FLAG IN LIBYA

http://www.vice.com/read/al-qaeda-plants-its-flag-in-libya

Crappy PhotoShop job - the wind is behaving differently for the two flags.

Fortunately there are people on the ground in Benghazi to debunk.

Patricia Davies-Gumma no al qaeda flag in benghazi. No one has even seen it!

Patricia Davies-Gumma its very stupid. After daffy's first rant on tv, where he accused us of being rats, cockroaches, on drugs, and then worst of all Al Qada, Benghazi went ballistic. They are hardly going to put an Al Qaeda flag up!! And if someone did try that stunt it would be torn out and the person lynched!!!

Patricia Davies-Gumma ‎@steffen manno, i have just sent someone over there. If there is an al qafa flag, then it will be torn down. If there isn't one there, i will be real peeved off with you!!

5. Ideology makes strange bedfellows
Pro-Gaddafi propaganda paints him as a socialist and an anti-imperialist, and instead of looking at the truth about how he and his family took Libya's wealth for themselves and protected it with force and how he funded factions in conflicts all over Africa, hardcore ideological authoritarian leftists see Gaddafi as having been on their side, and so they see attacking the six million average Libyans as a way to attack their political opponents.

And yeah, it reveals a lot of attitudes that we think of as being right-leaning. Like, for instance, the idea that the West is the center of the world and that only the lives of Westerners matter. Screw the Libyans who were impoverished and tortured and killed. Screw the central Africans who were affected by the money that Gaddafi gave to militias that are wrecking their countries. They don't matter. All that matters is hatred of the elite of the West and sneering at people on political forums.

Of course there's also no indication that they know about Gaddafi playing nice with the West in recent decades and how he was involved in rendition of terrorist suspects for torture.

And again, something that we usually associate with the right - I wonder if they would even be able to find Qatar on a map, much less know that Qatar gave a lot of aid to the Libyans. Or that the United Arab Emirates also had jets in the NFZ. How many Arab countries are helping in Iraq and Afghanistan?

I've come to the conclusion that authoritarian ideologues are basically the same, left or right. They'll both deny reality if it doesn't fit with their preconceived ideas, they are both very self-centered and can only see the world from their perspective, and they will both use hate and insults to shout down opponents.
