Philippines gets world's largest Ten Commandments
NOTE: It's not like the money was needed for stuff like food, medicine and clean water in the Philippines.

BAGUIO, Philippines — A building-sized edifice carved with the Bible's Ten Commandments was unveiled Wednesday in the Philippines, making it the largest tablet of its kind, according to Guinness World Records.

The tablet, a copy of the rules supposedly handed down by God to Moses on Mount Sinai, was inaugurated by city officials on a hill overlooking the northern resort city of Baguio.

A local religious group, donated the imposing 152.90 square metre (1,650 square foot) tablet to the city as they were presented a certificate from Guinness World Records.

"This beautiful and divine edifice will serve to drive away the evils of spirits that time and again emerge," said Baguio Congressman Bernardo Vergara at the inauguration.

"May it drive away evils of illegal drugs, gambling, prostitution."

6. Baguio Philippines depends on its tourism to provide jobs and revenue
to supply "stuff like food, medicine and clean water" for the inhabitants. Though I wouldn't make a special trip to my dining room window to see this monstrosity, tourists will spend money in the city to see it.

12. This is not "anti-faith."
It's anti-in-your-face faith.

14. No, it's anti-faith. I guess any expression of faith is in "your face" though.
Lots here have that attitude, it makes it easier to cry out to stop freedom of speech and expression for those of faith.

18. A "Ten Commandments" that big, is in-your-face.
That's also including the comment in the OP where it's stated that this huge placard supposedly stop the drugs and hookers in the area.

17. "slither"
pointing out the hypocrisy of religion or the illogic of an irrational belief is "slithering"?
Saying that this is no more than a big printed billboard and there is nothing special about it is "slithering"?
We are not under rocks, we are quite upfront, much to the chagrin of believers obviously.

20. It's not anti-faith
It's the priority of funds for this thing as opposed to more pressing needs like mosquito nets to mitigate the spread of dengue fever, food, clean water, education and medical supplies.

15. But the 10 Commandments don't mention drugs, gambling or prostitution.
Adultery is not the same thing as prostitution. If they wanted to drive away drugs, gambling or prostitution, why didn't they just put up a sign that big saying, "No drugs. No gambling. No prostitution."?
