"I think Nancy was one of the best Speakers of the House this country ever had"
10/30/11

President Obama on Saturday said Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was a great House Speaker and that she will get that job back after the 2012 elections.

"I am biased, but I think Nancy was one of the best Speakers of the House this country ever had," Obama said after Pelosi had introduced him at the National Italian American Foundation gala.

"She was no doubt the best Italian American Speaker of the House we ever had. And I believe that she will be the best Speaker of the House again in 2013."

5. I would not have expected him to say anything else. He is, after all, a politician.
Documents uncovered via a FOIA request show that Pelosi racked up over $101,000 of taxpayer dollars for "in-flight services."

Evidently, the don't make 'em like they used to.

In shaping legislation, Rayburn preferred working quietly in the background to being in the public spotlight. As Speaker, he won a reputation for fairness and integrity. In his years in Congress, Rayburn always insisted on paying his own expenses, even going so far as to pay for his own travel expenses when inspecting the Panama Canal when his committee was considering legislation concerning it, rather than exercising his right to have the government pay for it. When he died, his personal savings totaled only $15,000, and most of his holdings were in his family ranch.

7. Bullshit
Michele Bachmannn accused Pelosi of spending $100,000 on alcohol for flights--and Politifact rated it 'pants on fire.'

12. Michele Bachmannn has been known to shoot herself in the foot; nevertheless,
if you agree with FactCheck.org that she took a total of 12 international trips, then the total cost of alcohol would have been something less than $7,000, far lower than Bachmann's $100,000.

Answer me this: Should taxpayers be required to pay a $7,000 liquor tab for one of the wealthiest members of Congress who also happens to be a one-percenter?

http://thehill.com/blogs/on-the-money/801-economy/166599-pelosis-net-worth-rises-62-percent-

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) saw her net worth rise 62 percent last year, cementing her status as one of the wealthiest members of Congress.

15. you obviously can't read anything but the bullshit you're trying to sell here
Pelosi's office noted that the Speaker "does not drink alcohol" and that there "is no alcohol service on the domestic flights the Air Force operates for travel from Washington to San Francisco for the Speaker."

16. She might not drink alcohol, but that didn't prevent her from saying "drinks are on the house."
On the People's House...

I don't need to sell anything--you have already bought it.

20. The bullshit flows out of your every pore
You have nothing substantive to say about Rep. Pelosi's performance as Speaker, so you try to disparage her by bringing FReeper talking points here. My friend, bigtree, said it all.

Your intentions and motives are all too obvious. I don't think you belong here. I'm looking forward to a nice gravedance soon. :)

21. I don't believe you know squat about what she charged 'taxpayers' for on those flights
It wouldn't shock anyone (except you) to find that she paid back every dime she was responsible for.

Remember, Skippy, you're one who brought this crap here from a right-wing rag. They sure hooked you and your obvious hatred of this successful Democrat. Give it a rest. Crap from those rags isn't allowed to be waved around here as if its gospel -- even if you are a willing disciple

Sure I wish more liberal legislation, especially on Health Care could have made the cut. She did remarkably well considering the mixed bag of mooks she had to herd.

14. Yep, I agree.
And he provides great cover for them by pretending to be 'progressive'.

We need to get career pols and the money out of politics, and return to a government of the people.

19. Does that make you feel better?
I'm wondering if Obama was totally broke and was never successful at anything, would you have voted for him in that case?
And why would you do that?

13. Explain to me why she promised to never impeach Bush, even before she became Speaker

I'll admit she has a fantastic record on getting legislating passed, but that isn't the entirety of the Speaker's job.

I am happy to give credit where it is due. I also place blame where I believe it belongs and I blame her for Bush Co. never paying any price for their illegal acts.
