14. On oceanside

An Occupy Oceanside demonstration started small Friday afternoon at Mission Avenue and Pacific Street, but grew quickly.

It began about 3 p.m. with nearly 30 people, many holding signs, gathered at the corner. Organizers said the purpose of the nonviolent demonstration was to call attention to what they described as the inequality of wealth, income and political power in North County and across the country.

By 3:30 p.m., the crowd had grown to almost 50 people ---- it would eventually reach about 75 ---- and they began marching from the beach-side corner east to the Oceanside Civic Center.
