TPTB in the republican party do NOT want Herman Cain anywhere near the nomination.

Not saying that Mr Cain is not a sleazebag, just that the timing of these revelations is awfully fishy.

Anybody who appears to be in any way a threat to Mittens's nomination is going to be kneecapped no matter how much the teabag crowd loves him/her.

If Perry hadn't self destructed in the debates you would be seeing those gay rumors all over the interwebs by now.

And when Bachmann briefly looked like a contender, the stuff about Marcus all came to light suspiciously quick.

I'm not sure this will disqualify Cain in the minds of the true believers but IMO the people who actually pull the strings want him out of the way.
