Just who would actually vote for Ron Paul?
It seems every other day I hear some new detail of Ron Paul's plan for our country. From what I can tell, the government will basically have a small military, small justice department and a few other constitutionally required things but the rest would end. Leaving all but the rich to become vagrants. His plan goes beyond "class warfare" it would boarder on genocide. Why does anyone even give this man the time of day? The bad thing is I know a few people who think he would be a great president. :banghead:

2. A better question is, who would vote for anyone of these moran's that are
running on the right? If anyone of them were to become President, we the American citizens will be in a whole lot of hurt (much worse than we are right now).

11. You ain't kiddin'. A Ron Paul presidency is like the wasteland scene from the Matrix.
And I mean that only a little figuratively.

I think most people who prop up Paul are the well-meaning but not too inquisitive types. Ron Paul is like the mild-mannered anti-Christ but people fall for that mild-mannered shit. They don't look beneath the surface.

And it doesn't help that every Ron Paul supporter within fifty nautical miles of a bitching Democrat or Republican can somehow smell their dissatisfaction like a fucking shark and pop up from behind a convenient corner to start preaching the gospel.

People like....well, like most of the Republican candidates for President...they wear their crazy on their sleeve. With Paul, the hook is so buried in the red meat (like ending the wars) most people want to go after that they don't even think about the rest of his policies.

24. Here's a recent e-mail about Paul from my best friend's brother...
... in true wing nut fashion he says of Paul...

The ONLY candidate who is not big government nanny state is Ron Paul. Sign of the times: A guy who has voted on principle for liberty and government UNDER the Constitution for the last 20 years is derided as an unelectable kook. The establishment's hatred and fear of Paul tell's you everything you need to know to make an informed decision.

43. Ask him if he can square Paul's willingness to have the government intrude into reproductive rights
which is a blatant abuse of personal liberty by the state.

The right for women to have control over their own bodies has been adjudicated as Constitutional, and any interference with those rights is the epitome of a 'Nanny State'.

In 2005 and 2007, Paul introduced the Sanctity of Life Act, which would define human life as beginning from conception, removing abortion from federal jurisdiction and effectively negating Roe v. Wade. Paul has also introduced a Constitutional amendment with similar intent. Such laws would permit states to declare abortion to be murder and to outlaw new fetal stem cell research and some contraception and fertility treatments. Also in 2005 and 2007, Paul introduced the We the People Act, which would forbid all federal courts from adjudicating abortion as well as same-sex marriage, sexual practices, and government display of religious symbols. The Act would make federal decisions on those subjects nonbinding as state precedent, and would forbid federal courts from spending money to enforce their judgments.

From Wiki.

So, if there is a Constitutional issue that doesn't square with Paul's positions, his answer is to amend the Constitution.

Seriously, Paul has a cult of personality around him that I haven't seen before in politics. I actually quite like Ron Paul for the simple reason that he's up-front with his views. You don't have to parse everything and work out what he really means, it's just there. Makes a pleasent change sometimes.

says he voted for obama but I'd bet the farm that his hypocritical ass didn't, if I was a betting man that is. This fella thinks a flat tax would be good too amongst many other undemocratic ideas.

ETA: Dude thinks that anyone getting any type of welfare from food stamps on should be drug tested before every check arrives at their address. Claims to be a Christian too but my hunch is if I'm wrong and there is a hell he'll be there at the head of the class.

34. Who would follow the Rev. Jim Jones all the way to Guyana, and do whatever he demanded?
The number of people who are gullible enough to surrender their own free will is astonishing -- they are too fearful to think for themselves, so they abdicate critical thought, and hitch themselves to a Jim Jones, a Lyndon LaRouche, a Ron Paul, or some other lightning rod. On the surface, these "leaders" appear benign, but a little background digging reveals another story altogether.

The more uncertain times are (such as the present), the more fear runs unchecked. The more fear, the greater the desperation for any solution that promises to restore some order out of chaos, even if it means scapegoating another segment of society. This is exactly how Hitler and his lieutenants came into power in post-WWI Germany.

like in ending the WOD and the never ending wars in the ME. Now, I wouldn't vote for Paul because of some of the other shit he advocates, but that doesn't negate the fact that he has at least two ideas I wish the Democratic leadership would follow..

Edited on Wed Nov-02-11 05:31 PM by Motown_Johnny

The problem with these guys is that they see a ceiling where they should see a floor. They think that if the Constitution says to do it, then it is unconstitutional to do any more than that.

The accurate interpretation is that if the Constitution says to do it, then is unconstitutional to do any less than that.
