HATERS GOTTA HATE... regards to #OCCUPYOAKLAND.
Edited on Wed Nov-02-11 01:03 PM by AsahinaKimi
Just been to SFGATE.COM to check out the story of the General Strike in Oakland. The comments section was enough to make me want to scream. Its like every hater from Freeperland to the Tea party has left their nasty comments about #OccupyOakland General Strike today. One person seriously
suggested that The Governor call out the National Guard and rid the city of its "excess garbage" in the Street with loaded weapons.

Others have laughed that Oakland would really have any of the 1% there, and that the city is filled with Ghetto Thugs and Illegal Immigrants. You have to READ this crap to believe it. I used to post there a while back, but it has become a sesspool.

The very few positive comments were stomped down on by (most likely paid freepers)who simply ridicule and slam the movement as a "Giant Waste of time".

I really wish we could take an army of DUers there to post comments, but it would be all for naught, as the Right Wing of the Republican party has taken over the comments section at SF.gate and makes our city (at least from a distance)look look like it was concieved in Freeper land.

1. We get the same nasty comments posted on the DMN...
the newspaper here in Dallas. I finally stopped arguing with them because you can't fix stupid.

6. The Dead Sea Scrolls of Dallas.
My great-uncle used to work for Mr. Dealey, as in Dealey Plaza.
That was when they probably had real journalists.

2. Probably just a handful of Koch trolls
Like the fake callers reading their script on rightwing radio.

8. I am sure you must be right
I am sure certain so called "liberal" sounding newspapers, are targeted by people who are paid to use the same kind of messages over and over again. I am sure they are often fed lines to use, and have a brocure of the kinds of messages they can spew out. The worse the better..

10. I hope someone does an expose on this
I believe there are documented cases of paid callers phoning into rightwing radio shows posing as average Americans.

Sadly the folks they're broadcasting to are too immersed in their own fear and oblivion to notice or care.

5. I used to post there quite a bit myself
but you're right, it's over run by brainless right-wingers now, 99% of which have never set foot in the bay area. It's become such a frustrating experience to read the comments now.

7. Not only that but the editors don't even bother with the
Racist or Sexist comments any more. There are few removed posts, its like they have given up and just let people use any words they wish to breed more hate. Homophobia runs rampent there, as well as racist comments. To read it all gives you a sense of hoplessness for this city and the country at large, as if the entire nation was filled with Right Wing hate groups.

13. Just leave a comment saying how their frantic, desperate
posts are a good sign of the success of OWS. No other movement in recent memory has scared the 1% and their paid goons so much and their comments are proof of that.

While they are busy desperately trying to stop this ever-growing movement which has the support of 57% of the American people so far, the rest of us will simply let them writhe in their desperate last throes, and continue to look forward to a better future where haters like them will be marginalized, as is happening right now and the best of America will, is rising to the top.

They are a minority, and they are feeling the pressure and will probably get even more angry the more successful the movement becomes. But their hate-filled voices no longer have any effect other than to remind people that this vicious, tiny minority has had far too much power for too long and now the American people are waking up and are drowning them out. They are Kochroaches, the light is shining on them and they are gasping for breath.

9. I think some day we will find out that the Koch brothers and their ilk have
Edited on Wed Nov-02-11 01:39 PM by kestrel91316
paid ARMIES of RW trolls to spam every single large and medium-sized city newspaper's comments, full time, for YEARS. It's too widespread and consistently venomous.

They have plenty of money to do it. That's all it takes.

11. That is one reason why papers are starting to shut down
Commentary.

On the bright side it shows how effective this is.

12. I'm getting an earful of hate
I work in logistics, and the port of Oakland shutting down is costing my company money. My bosses are not happy.

I am.

14. Isn't SFGate.com owned by Hearst newspapers or something like that?
Hearst, who was allowed to buy both Seattle dailies and close the urban, liberal, highly respected Seattle Post-Intelligencer to replace it with the suburban Seattle Times Rag, a Hearst zombie clone?

15. I really don't know...
The San Francisco Chronicle used to have people like Herb Caen, who as I have heard, was pretty liberal..there have been others.. other than a few jack ass sports writers, but I don't recall any articles that refected Right wing Fox News talking points. I could be wrong..

16. Phil Mattier and Carla Marinucci do a good job of filtering
right wing talking points. So does Joe Garafolo. All of them have been consistently bashing public employee pensions and unions for at least the past 10 years. The chron's political guy in Oakland is pretty much negative about any poitical happening in our fair city.

Most of the columnists like Herb Cain, Arthur Hoppe and now days Jon Carrol were fairly liberal.

the Chron's editorial page has been very much Republican since the days when they set the type by hand.

(In the '60's some of my grammar school teachers would give us kids extra credit for identifying the typos. It was easy since they were on pretty much every page.)
