So many of our elected officials at the national level are blackmailable. And we have seen our government use blackmail as a tool of war in Iraq (Abu Ghraib photos). Jeff Gannon/Guckert comes to mind also. Vitter, Larry Craig, Weiner, the list goes on and on.

Perhaps that is why there are so few women in elected positions -- harder for the PTB to blackmail and control them.

14. Washington state had its own pedophile ring that reached to the very top involving notable local

celebrities and the political elite. Thanks to the dogged pursuit by a retired Seattle police sergeant much of it was revealed but it too was eventually thwarted. Can't help but think that somehow the ring here and the one in Nebraska are connected and it reaches all the way back to DC.

17. I remember a segment of the Phil Donahue in the seventies

he had a guy on who was working for law enforcement against pedophilia (former pedophile). I'll always remember what he said to phil, that the ring includes those who society trusts the most-there are judges, police officers, clergy, politicians. That if a pedophile wants a blond haired, blue eyed young girl, that girl will be available. This was in the late seventies and it really disturbed me-my beautiful daughter and son were very young.

The show gave me the impression that there was power behind the child sex trade. Then, years later I read about the franklin cover up and the sex ring that caught guckert and other boys-in a rash of kidnappings. The franklin situation, I think that victims were pressured to recant by the authorities, authorities that were supposed to be protecting them.

I think we have some very disturbed, powerful, wealthy people, who consider some of our society as cattle, and use that faction of society as cattle. That, they are narcissistic sociopaths, and probably feel nothing while inflicting pain on said cattle. Fear, fundamental religious belief, propaganda are used to keep the cattle docile and easy to herd (sway with misinformation) or rip off. That's why I'm a cat. ;-)

I recently read that the D.A. who chose not to prosecute Sandusky in 1998 mysteriously disappeared six years ago. Given the relationships that Paterno (and surely others in the PSU hierarchy) had with people in powerful positions, it's hard to imagine that there is no link. The fact is that there are members of the political and socioeconomic elite who have gotten away with crimes against children and any exposure of their actions has been systematically suppressed. We are dealing with a problem that goes far beyond PSU, but will anyone in the press have the courage to dig deeper?
