On all days...but today.
So went to the store and local public radio is having it's midday forum. So what are they discussing putting on the chopping block to reduce the budget on veterans day? Can you say pension and medical services? Yup, they mean cutting retired benefits.

Gets worst...Perry (LA Times) floated the concept that retirement should depend on whether you deployed or left the wire....that will be quite destructive to moral.

Oh yeah let me add a trite phrase, or maybe not.

'Worse', not 'worst' This is not spelling nannyism. 'Worst' is simply the wrong word. nt

4. No, I don't read it that way. It's constructive criticism, which you can choose to ignore again.
Also, it's "morale" not "moral". They are different words with different meanings.

Also, there is only one R and only one T in "harassment".

Learn or ignore, your choice.

5. Nah what he is doing is harrastment
He has yet to add to anything of substance. Spell nannies on the web usually have nothing to add and do such to harrass. My experience on this goes to usenet...there, I dated myself.

25. Whereas pointing out that someone is pointing out misspelling is.... ?

You can save yourself the effort of pointing out that I'm pointing out that you were pointing out that I was pointing out that....

I think we both made our points.

spelling, grammar and punctuation errors. I ignore the boo-boos here at DU. If I tried to correct every spelling and grammatical error here, I'd be on DU all day. So just let it be.

9. Thank you
And if I tried to get everything to publishing standards that means working on a single post for a few hours...between dyslexia and ESL...nope, don't ask me to accent words correctly in Spanish. That truly I never got.

13. It's one thing to point out bloopers for a couple of LOL's, but parsing grammer (not Kelsey)
on an internet message board is a "waist" of time & bandwidth.

12. I'm a current book editor - relax
I do try and correct my children when they use really poor grammar, but the bar is set at different heights depending on the circumstances. Pointing out minor mistakes on an Internet message board that do NOT affect readers ability to understand the post is just boorish. Anyone that has elevated blood pressure over common texting and chat room "lingo" is an idiot. BTW, research shows that the kids who use "chatspeak" the most also score higher in formal English testing--roughly on a par with multilingual students. In other words, breaking the rules well is an indication that you have a firm grasp of communication fundamentals. Boorishly pointing out a mistake that doesn't hinder meaning is an indication that communication is NOT what you're interested in.

Edited on Fri Nov-11-11 04:57 PM by AnneD
but we treat those wounded in the service to their country like crap. Just like we seen to care more for the unborn than the poor little kid that can't get food or health care.

Our values are skewed.

11. It's that or . . .
Raise taxes on the wealthy. Are you that heartless, that stone-cold, beady-eyed at-long-last-shameless that you would expect, nay demand that Paris Hilton and Charlie Sheen (the very words are choking my poor keyboard!) pay an additional three cents on the dollar in taxes for their income above $250,000 a year?

My God, you have finally slipped the last tenuous fibers of humanity!
