Boston Herald: Elizabeth Warren jilts Occupy Harvard
U.S. Senate hopeful and Harvard Law prof Elizabeth Warren, who has claimed she laid the “intellectual foundation” for the Occupy Wall Street movement, is jilting the anti-corporate proteges in her own Ivy League yard, refusing to sign a petition in support of Occupy Harvard.

Warren, who declined to speak to the Herald, is focused on her campaign, said spokesman Kyle Sullivan.

“Elizabeth hasn’t signed the petition, but she’s been standing up to Wall Street and the big banks for years and that’s what she’ll do in the Senate,” said Sullivan in a statement. “People are frustrated and protesting for change, Elizabeth understands that.”

Some here claim President Obama should intervene. I say no one should.

1. EW said that she supports OWS, and people have to obey the law.
Her actions are consonant with those two statements.

Leave it to the HERALD to refuse any opportunity for truth OR nuance.completely

5. Office holders and candidates shouldn't sign petitions or pledges, in my opinion.
Just like U.S. Congressmen shouldn't have signed Grover Norquist's no-tax pledge.

6. I don't blame her.
The reTHUGs are the ones who started this pledge-signing garbage, beginning with that slime Norquist, and I have been very opposed to the way the left has started copying this practice.

I have refused to sign any pledges for that very reason. I've also refused to sign certain petitions because some of them are so badly and vaguely worded, even leaving the impression that there is some open-ended obligation involved that will be defined and collected on later.

Elizabeth HAS been standing up to Wall Street for years and doesn't need to sign anyone else's pledge or petition or statement to prove it. Good for her.

8. Dr Warren is a politician. She has to do what she has to do and the 99% movement has to do what they
have to do.

9. Meh. Declining to sign is not jilting. It's called being a politician.
Did anyone really think she wasn't going to play the game? I don't trust her 100%--I only trust her more than most politicians.

10. GOOD FOR HER!!!!!
Any idiot that signs a pledge with any organization shouldn't be running for office.
Much like the idiots who signed the "no taxes" pledge.

OWS should be focusing on what ever they are focusing on instead of looking for signers for a *&^damn stupid petition.

11. OWS is non-partisan...
Ms. Warren and the Democrats, including the President, understand and respect that, imo. For the Democrats to take any prominent position re OWS would give the rabid right major ammunition to discredit Occupy as a front for the Dem party.

I think they are being very wise in standing back and letting the people take the message.

12. Agree 100%. It was weird reading claims that President Obama should
go all OWS with support. Thanks.
