'Get ready' for extreme weather
'Get ready' for extreme weather

Top climate scientists have warned the world's political leaders to get ready for more dangerous and "unprecedented extreme weather" caused by global warming.

The group of scientists said making preparations will save lives and money otherwise weather extremes may overwhelm some locations, making some places uninhabitable.

The Nobel Prize-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change issued a new special report on global warming and extreme weather after meeting in Kampala, Uganda. This is the first time the group of scientists has focused on the dangers of extreme weather events.

One study lead author, Maarten van Aalst, director of the International Red Cross/Red Crescent Climate Centre in the Netherlands, said: "We need to be worried.

7. Think of it this way;

You know how when you strike a match there's always that teeny-tiny little 'first spark' that sets off the big flare up?

The next few years are that 'tiny spark'.

2. The pentagon has been studying this as well, IIRC.
It's only the people who are stupid enough to believe tv news/RW pundits/RW talk radio and bribed legislators who would be surprised by this at all.

14. So has the German military command - They know
The military experts all know it is here and going to get worse, no matter how much money RepubliCon Billionaire 1% PuppetMasters (R) pour into lies and disinformation through Fox (R), Rush DraftDodger Limbaugh (R), Sean 'Gucci-loafers Deferment' Hannity, and the other overpaid, blow-dry Republicon propaganda pimps.

9. this is what you get from the o.p.?
if obama is primaried, that GREATLY increases the chance that a republican would win.

but, let's assume that your dream candidate not only bests obama but also bests newt romney of whoever and wins the white house.

then what? do you really think we can get an eco-friendly president and filibuster-proof eco-friendly majorities in both houses out of the 2012 election? and i mean, sufficient eco-friendly majorities to stay firm against the inevitable MASSIVE corporate anti-earth contributions?

you're welcome to your dreams, but i'd prefer to build up incremental gains in congress every couple of years and set my sights on 2016 as far as the white house goes. for now, i'm a strong obama supporter. maybe not the best possible president, but the best president possible. for now, anyway.
