Gordon Lightfoot joins daughter at protest (Occupy Toronto)
Edited on Sat Nov-19-11 10:12 AM by Swede
Folk icon Gordon Lightfoot joined his activist daughter at the ongoing Occupy Toronto demonstration on Tuesday to perform for the protesters.

The Canadian singer/songwriter told local news reporters his daughter Meredith had invited him to the tent city in St. James Park, but didn't expect him to bring a guitar.

He said, "I'm here at the invitation of my daughter to come and see the site."

1. introduced my grandkids to his music
last week. We went up to Split Rock Lighthouse on Superior last Thursday for the ceremony commemorating the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald on Superior. The lighthouse keepers lit the lamp and rang the bell as they read the names of each of the seamen. We listened to Gorden Lightfoot all the way up, including his song about the Fitzgerald.

5. He turned 73 on November 13th.
And he's a hell of a lot more than the Edmond Fitzgerald. Regard his body of work and be amazed... the most talented troubador ever, followed by Pierce Pettis.
