Anyone surprised by this from the "super" (NOT) committee?
http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/11/super-committee-negotiations-now-about-how-to-fail-gracefully.php

"A highly placed Democratic source weighs in on the current state of Super Committee negotiations.

“Conversations are still happening, but its mostly about how to put this thing to bed,” the aide says.

This will come as no surprise to anybody who’s been following the committee’s progress (or lack thereof) over the last couple weeks. And it doesn’t preclude the slim possibility that the panel will agree on at least a small package of budget cuts before Monday. Other sources say they’re holding out hope for a last minute come-to-Jesus moment (for Democrats this means Republicans agreeing to significant new tax revenues). But it’s as close to a death knell as we’ve seen so far. "

10. the daily show said that a bone of contention was that john
kerry monopolized conversation. YAWN! Such a bore.

Let them fail. I want to see how far they can go down in the polls. 9% isn't low enough.

4. ah, that's what I did wrong! I worked hard, did well, - hence I lost my job.
This congress is an utter embarrassment.

5. Is it better to let it just automatically default to the cuts? They leave SS
and Medicare/aid alone, don't they?

6. I think I'd rather they didn't "do a deal"
and let the damn automatic cuts kick in - which would hit defense - which needs cutting very badly.

7. Best possible outcome I can imagine is for them NOT to come to a deal.
Automatic defense cuts, which are NEVER going to happen any other way. Plus, it makes it easier to let the Bush tax cuts expire.

8. It's been a huge waste of time.
Who didn't see that coming? They have no reason to be serious. They all have a job and all the perks of that job they can handle. Gag me.

9. Of course they will come to some miserable little deal that falls way short of the goal.
And then we'll suffer them bragging about the major accomplishment they made.

And nothing will change.

They can't change anything. Only the people can do that.
