Drunken driver calls 911 on himself

Posted: Nov 22, 2011 5:00 PM PST
By Anna Carrera, Multimedia Journalist

MERRILL (WAOW) -- Lincoln County 911 operators received an unexpected call Sunday night. A man called to say there was an impaired driver on the road. But the man, 21-year-old Cody Schwoch, was calling to report himself.

Driver: "I've been driving. I've been drinking. I just kind of want to turn myself in."

911 Operator: "Were you just driving now?"

Driver: "No, I just parked myself but I've been trying to figure out how to call the police department and not 911."

Some good,
Some bad,
Some Nuts
Some Sane..

Many fall in one place or another
This one falls..
In a place no other is.

and it is an honest place.

3. What I don't get is why did they arrest him?
He pulled over, call the police and said, I am too drunk to drive. He should be held up as an example for others and inspiration to do the same for others who realize they are too drunk.

Now others will say, If I call and say I am too drunk, they will arrest me. Those people will try and drive risking the lives of everyone else on the road as well as themselves.

7. I'm not so sure about that.
He should not have gotten behind the wheel in the first place. He could have called for a tow. There are tow companies that will take you and your car home for a reasonable price. That being said, I think the cops could have cut this guy a break, and probably should have. Being drunk makes you stupid more than it makes you honest. I'll have a beer with you though! :hi:
