...how fast do you think they'd have managed to come up with a compromise? I know Republicans are lackeys for corporate America, but they are self-serving creatures at heart. Cut into THEIR slice of the pie and see how quickly they'll be falling all over themselves to negotiate "for the good of the nation".

1. Their salaries and benefits are petty compared to the bribes..I'm sorry, campaign contributions that
they receive, not to mention the lobbyist gifts they are allowed to receive. What we, the taxpayers, pay them pales to what they get from corporate cash.

Remember, the quickest way to become a millionaire in this country is to run for office.

3. BOTH corporate parties are after the safety net /"lesser evil" vote is a corporate vote--!!
Bill Moyers:

the Middle Class or Working People'

Maybe Bill Moyers can make that clear to the many who still don't believe it???

4. I said from the start that I did not want to see a "compromise"
These days "compromise" usually means "a bunch of blue-dog Democrats vote with the Republicans to screw the little people"

5. Congress is composed of the 1%. Generally speaking, they need neither their salary nor...
...their benefits. They're in it for the power, for the
benefits they can bring their class, and for the
*HUGE* paychecks they'll cash *AFTER* they
leave the hallowed halls of Congress.

6. Cut Congressional Pay to a dollar a day and you'd have even worse representation than you have now.
Congress men and women are not overpaid, they are over lobbied. Let them live on their pay and you might accomplish something, but as long as outside money can flow in by the truck load their actual pay is meaningless.
