UPI: Ted Kennedy Jr. may run in 2012 for the seat being vacated by Lieberman
Will Ted Kennedy Jr. replace Lieberman?

Published: Jan. 20, 2011 at 3:09 PM

BOSTON, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Friends of Ted Kennedy Jr. said he may run in 2012 for the seat being vacated by Connecticut U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman.

The potential candidate, 49, the middle child of the late U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy and his former wife, Joan, runs a law firm in New York City and is an activist for the disabled.

"No one knew Lieberman would be getting out. I think Teddy would be the odds-on favorite were he to enter the race. But I don't know if this is the right time for him," a Kennedy friend told Thursday's Boston Herald.

Kennedy's inspiring eulogy at his father's funeral in 2009 prompted observers to focus on him for public office, the Herald said.

1. We might get a good damn liberal democrat out that seat yet.
May the most liberal one win.

I hope he runs.

4. We could see a lot of people running for Lieberman's seat.
Bysiewicz and Murphy have already announced.

McMahon may run. The Republicans will definitely put up somebody. Maybe Rell, Fedele, Schiff or Foley - who knows.

Now Kennedy may throw his hat in the ring.

I've even heard that Alec Baldwin may run for the seat. Hopefully he won't leave the cast of 30 Rock if that's the case.

5. Yes please.
A lovely, intelligent, humble liberal who learned and lived compassion - through his own life struggles and from his dad. :)

6. OK, now I'm torn. I like both Ted AND Chris Murphy...
Bysiewicz polls well but has an embarrasing goof in her recent past and one that, IMO, could drive her candidacy off the cliff. I like her for other reasons, but her "I wasn't a practicing attorney but I was" when she was running for CT AG is a big fat target...

10. I'm all for it.

It is bound to piss off the goppers just to have another Kennedy in the political arena.

And how can that not be a bad thing?
