A Healthier Walmart?
I've boycotted this mega-chain for years because of their
employment policies and the way they insist on their way
and prices when dealing with companies.

This is an interesting and profitable direction if Wal-Mart
actually offers say, Whole Foods sells now, but at a discount.
Produce can be found inexpensively depending on where
you shop, but whole grains, seeds etc. can be more
expensive.

This would be a good move for WM if it takes the high
road, It may change its reputation and change the way
the average American eats.

3. You and I may have standards but alot of folks really don't care about that stuff
and for some, Wal-mart is their only choice when it comes to shopping.

So for me, this change with Wal-mart has no impact for me but I know for many it could be a healthier differnce.

2. People want to rag on Wal-Mart and usually I'm one of the first folks who will do so but...
I think this is a good move for Wal-Mart.

A few years back Wal-Mart made a major impact with the $4 generic prescriptions. That move forced competitors to do the same low cost generics for their stores too (my local Wal-Green does $10/3 month generics). Sure, it's not allowing access to the most current crop of prescription drugs out there, but a $4 cholestorol lowering drug or $4 High Blood Pressure drug might make the difference when it comes to saving lives.

I wish more people would try to shop locally instead of relying on places like Wal-Mart but unfortunately the facts are Wal-Mart will always exist. If they can provide healthier foods that compete in price for the junk food, perhaps we can get america eating healthier.

4. Walmart has enough buying power
that if they manage to pull this off it could mean an improvement for all off brand products. The same companies that manufacture for Walmart also produce most of the stuff for the other big box stores and supermarkets.

5. At a discount?

What at walmart is sold at a discount?

An in depth comparison that I did at various chain stores revealed that they are seldom cheaper, especially when it comes to food staples. Bread, milk, etc .

Aside from maybe prescriptions, then again my local supermarket, just give certain meds for FREE.
