Confronted by blogger, Santorum fails to differentiate between little girl, dish of cells
Source: Raw Story

former Republican Senator considered to be a candidate for the party's 2012 presidential nomination was recently confronted by a blogger with a perplexing question: Being pro-life, if you found yourself in a fertility clinic that was burning down, and you had a choice between saving a 2-year-old girl or a petri dish of five fertilized eggs, what would you do?

Rick Santorum, an employee of the Republican Fox News Channel and former US Senator from Pennsylvania, didn't seem too sure.

He's baaaaaaaack. This will go over well with the electorate, I am sure.

1. some ramblings
Save the 2 y.o. to prolong her suffering? Save the 2 y.o. because she has the most potential? Instinct, I imagine would lead one to save the 2 y.o.

Don't the zygotes have to have a viable uterus to continue to the embryo stage?

Easy answer I suppose. Someone remind me why I should know about Rick Santorum?

Logic is a tricky business when you start with ridiculous assumptions.

5. Fox News wouldn't exist if the Fairness Doctrine was still around
Thank Ronald Reagan for this. Reagan supported the effort to revoke the Fairness Doctrine (established in 1949) and later vetoed the Democratic-controlled Congress's effort to make the doctrine law. In August 1987, the FCC abolished the doctrine by a 4-0 vote. Conservatives view the Fairness Doctrine as an attack on First Amendment rights and property rights.

12. Fox News is on cable
and I believe the Fairness Doctrine applied to broadcast (public airwaves) content.

You've gotta pay to get Fox. The FTC would be more appropriate to determine if the claim "fair and balanced" was accurate.

13. I should have realized that! I guess I see Fox "News" as a competitor of the networks
I think they've been able to brainwash much of the country into thinking they are a true news station on a par with the networks. One can only hope that people will be able to distinguish been fact and corrupted opinion!

6. These confused people are NOT pro-life, but simply pro-fetus.
True pro-life individuals are 100% anti-death-penalty and pro-gun-control.

If someone is not 100% pro-life, then they are simply pro-fetus and anti-choice.

Don't let them continue to incorrectly define themselves.

17. Beautifully said.
And heaven help those fetuses who, by no choice of their own, become little people who are impoverished & don't have adequate food, shelter, or healthcare. Reichwingers' attitudes change to "you're on your own".

8. Let's make this a little more interesting.
What if the choice was to save the 2 year old girl or 10 million fertilized eggs? The fertilized eggs are in so many petri dishes that Santorum can only carry the girl or the dishes, not both.

14. headline makes this seem like ambush journalism a la O'Reilly's producer
but reading the article Santorum was actually a guest radio host discussing the issue with a caller. And this ignoramadoofus wants to be president?

15. I'm less worried about Santorum than about Palin being president.
It's not gonna happen, people.

Santorum lost his last run for Senate in Pennsylvania with 38% of the vote.

16. Here's what would actaully happen
Santorum would immediately vacate the premises in order to save himself, and then go into a full scale John Boehneresque cryathon in front of media cameras, lamenting that it was too late to rush in and save the petri dish and its contents.

18. What a genuinely pathetic individual Santorum is.
Hint: Save the child first, Rick.

A petri dish with fertilized eggs are not "children", and in fact are not as yet implanted embryos or born as infants either.

In-Sanitorium is awarded no points, and may his creator someday have mercy upon his everlasting, woeful, and misguided soul.

Too often, people from our party cede these idiotic "values issues" without a fight. It's stupid.
