BREAKING on DADT
Josh Marshall | December 16, 2010, 7:49PM

Our reporter on the Hill says Sen. Reid just announced he's filing cloture tonight on DADT and the DREAM Act. That would mean the votes would be on Saturday. That sounds like DADT is up first. We'll have more for you momentarily.

.........

In an interview on the satellite radio show 'POTUS' today, Rep Barney Frank announced that the bill now has enough backers in the Senate to overcome a Republican filibuster. "There are at least 62 senators --more than the 60 that is needed under that outrageous filibuster rule, but at least we have even met that-- who are committed to repealing 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'... All the obstacles that people have said existed to a straight up-or-down vote have now been met. And unless there are some liars in the Senate, we are going to get this done."

2. Barney Frank is a Congressman, not a Senator.
That said, yes, they have the votes in the Senate.

3. I've been predicting 64 for a few days
It'll probably be 63 if Wyden leaves town tomorrow as expected.

GOPers: Collins, Brown, Murkowski, Voinivich, Kirk, Lugar, Snowe, and MAYBE Ensign.

4. AND says POTUS has been cooperative, and
if it doesn't make it thru Senate, NO REASON to defend it in courts any longer.

5. Remember when DADT repeal was considered dead?

I am still in the "I'll believe it when I see it" mode but this was still good news.
