No shit, Sherlock, but many people still don't get this--or pretend not to.

So this series is a very good thing, IMO.

As long as they tell truth.

1. People will get it soon. This fake defict crisis will result in the
worst blow of all.

And it has been all kabuki theater, all the time, from the moment the President appointed two anti-New Deal zealots to his deficit commission. Well, it started before that. It really got rolling when Bush was awarded the office of President when he didn't even win the election.

Notice that they aren't even speaking of alternatives to cutting real security for actual people.

2. Maybe it started when Reagan took office, which happened to coincide with
this:

In 1980, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) founded the Democratic Business Council to compete with the Republican National Committee for donations from businesses and corporations.

After 1980, lobbyists in Washington, D.C. (and elsewhere) increased "exponentially." (I have forgotten where I saw that word used in connection with the increase in lobbyists after 1980.

Reagan's election also paved the way for the coup within the Democratic Party by conservative Democrats, which leveraged Mondale's resounding defeat (and McGovern's before that) to finally get what they had always wanted.
