You won't see me making many posts about Sandy Hook for many reasons.,
However, this morning, I heard that an empty school that had been destined for conversion to a recreation center is being converted to look as much like the school where the shootings took place as possible, so that the kids from Sandy Hook can go there when they are ready.

I realize that the familiar can be comforting, but, who needs reminders of the school where the tragedy occurred.

Iff it were up to me, I would make the place look as different as possible, not as similar as possible.

Moreover, did anyone ask the parents or the older kids?

2. If Parents would just hug their children and say: "I love you."
a lot of these incidents might not happen.

When your Mother is a Stone-Cold Bitch and treats you like a chunk of spoiled meat. Shit is bound to happen.

My parents were Birchers and very authoritarian, sort of a '50's prepper/teabagger mindset. From personal experience, when the only way to get personal attention, was to provoke a beating, you know things are very fucked-up.

They sent me away to a Church-run Boarding School/Concentration Camp. I was never the same after that. It took me decades to find my way back to a 'Normal' Mindset.

As a child, I don't ever remember my parents giving me a hug or saying "I love You." It took me a long time to learn how to Love.

It was a hard road.

3. I'm so sorry. That's horrible. No child should be treated so badly. I can't imagine being forced
to go to a Church-run boarding/concentration camp, as opposed to going to a heartwarming loving summer camp ran by Christians that behave with kindness in teaching children who come there for a week or two. I so agree with you, when your parent is a cold hearted person who is miserable, you're going to make some kids that already have a disposition to violence become monsters. I'm glad you've recovered from your situation. Good for you, formercia.

5. I'm glad you learned it and, for whatever it's worth, we love you.
My childhood was not great, either.

6. You have my sympathy, formercia.
I'm happy that you made your way back. Many don't make their way back after that sort of trauma.

4. yes, I thought you had a finger-fart and typed the wrong thing, because I totally agree with you,
why in the world would they want to make the school look like the one where mass killings occurred?

7. Maybe because, ordinarily, young kids find familiarity comforting, or so they say.
A friend who was a nursery school teacher told me she purposely bought clothes to wear at work that looked similar to all her other work clothes.

But, this is not an ordinary situation.
