I'm just watching Jon Stewart tearing
the Republicans in the Senate a new one over not passing the 911 Responders bill. He has some courageous 911 responders - a couple with cancer - on right now and is having a serious conversation with them. They are not happy with the Republicans. This is an unusual format for the Daily Show.

3. I've got tears in my eyes. Those guys are the best. My
dad was a firefighter for 35 years. He never thought twice about putting his life on the line. Those guys remind me of my dad. I hope that video of this discussion Stewart had is up and circulating around the intertubes tomorrow. Shame on the Republicans in Congress. They are heartless.

4. Thank God... I now feel good again about Stewart
I was pissed off after the rally and generally how MSNBC was compared with Fox cable, but THIS....

This is so under-reported. Thank you , Jon Stewart.

And, FUCK YOU, Republicans.

5. I really want to know where to tell John Kyl to go fuck hiimself.
Here they are sweating out tax cuts for people who don't deserve it and didn't earn it in the first place, and cutting out help for people like this, who, you know, actually need it. :argh:

6. so how many of the first responders voted Republican?
I'm aware a lot of unemployed Kentuckians voted for Rand Paul, and I'd just like to know the extent of the stupidity.

Democrats like most union members do, so it's a silly thing to even ponder.

30. Honestly, does it matter?
I know it *matters* in the grand scheme of things, but if we're real Democrats we're not about withholding funds from those who earned them, no matter who they voted for.

32. But shouldn't there be consequences for "bad" behavior? By voting for the pukes, these people have
contributed to their own demise.

Protecting people from consequences they are partly responsible for should not be the new mantra, even if they are suffering.

36. So what do you propose we do?
Edited on Fri Dec-17-10 08:46 PM by Chorophyll
Check everyone's voter registration (if any) before we give them their food stamps, unemployment checks and medicare? Really?

ETA: Your question is the mirror-image of the basic Repuke attitude: "because a few people are lazy cheats, no one gets social programs." Am I right?

for hard-working Americans.

Since they are union, they more than likely voted Democratic anyway.

20. what was good, stewart actually had facts and was able to counter huck the few times he threw out
shit.

he said should be passed but dems have it attached to something. stewart said, not attached, on its own and huckle had to take it back. then huck tried to blame dems cause making it political. stewart said, if only, wish they were making political but they so arent and huck back down again.

so was a good interview

16. Republicons FAILed on 9/11. Exploited 9/11.
And then when they had got what they could from 9/11, Republicons betrayed everyone who actually did anything helpful or good about 9/11.

Republicons prove once again that their so-called Family Values are selfish, greedy, and perverse.

28. Good for Jon for doing this - but the question is
why hasn't this happened on "Meet the Press", "Face the Nation", one of the network morning shows or even one of the network evening news shows? - They could take a few minutes from their daily coverage Prince William's engagement and cover something worthwhile.

34. But they are suppose to inform viewers
and telling the public what is happening to the 9/11 responders would be informational. The careful way they slant the news is indeed an attempt to tell us what to think.

real news...

And that was ONE HELL OF AN INTERVIEW.

And here is the other problem.

Canadians who came to help, they are not losing their shirts.

Mexicans who came to help, again they are getting the medical care they need.

What is wrong with this picture?
