3. On the short term they get their political goal
the long term... we will pay for this shit... as a nation. There is no longer a long term in DC... And the government is well beyond broken.

5. I think you're right. Additionally, they get to
pull the "shut down the federal government" stunt in February when we reach the debt ceiling.

6. Alas there is a little thing in this wet dream
the empire is starting it's collapse. Rating agencies are paying attention to all this shit. If the empire (when the empire collapses) it will lead to the end of way too many things, including the US. Historians will not be kind to this generation of politicians regardless of party.
