It could never happen to us...

We are safe behind our iron gates. We are separate from the world's problems. We have no concern about poverty, hunger, joblessness, or despair.

I wonder what I will do with that extra million dollars I will make this year? Will I hire a new gardener or chauffeur? I wonder if they washed and waxed my new car today?

I do not worry about those desperate young men that might stop my car as I go out to get more groceries. I do not think of the dangers that might lurk as I make my way to the office suite. Life is good.

Those people that are hungry and sleeping under the bridge have no one to blame but themselves. If only they were willing to work as hard as me, they would not be in that condition. I do not worry myself about them.

Those folks in the Middle East are far different from us. We are much smarter than they. We are safe and secure. Should I tip the guard at the gate? Maybe tomorrow?

since that is after all how we pick our leaders.

3. Interesting metaphor.

In the movie, day of the dead, there are lots of relevant social commentary, it is buried below much gore and violence, hard to watch those movies.

But if you think of zombies not as terrible things that eat people, and instead 'zombies are great when healed and awake'.

Then you can see some really interesting story ideas in that movie.

It is most likely a comment on the spiritual, but there is a scene in that movie.


One of the characters, so fed up with what the other group was doing, opens the doors and lets the zombies in. With the filters, that does not make any sense. But if you see the movie where zombies are not violent, flip it, making the zombies caring and empathetic, and the living in a self proclaimed state where they see people as monsters. Then the movie says something completely different. Actually most of the zombie movies make much more sense if you see them upside down. (except Shawn of the dead, that seemed to have mixed metaphors)

Then it makes sense why the guy opens the gate.

8. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one

who sees multiple layers of meaning in zombie movies. Most of my friends don't get it, but I can usually find more meaning in a cheap zombie film than in the latest Hollywood blockbuster.
