Quick, simple deficit killing plan
I don't have the numbers--then again, neither do most of the teabaggers--but here's my plan to kill the deficit.

1. End the occupation of Iraq by October 1, 2011.

2. End the occupation of Afghanistan by October 1, 2011.

3. Return to the tax rates that existed in the Economic Recovery Tax Act of 1981.

4. Eliminate the Department of Homeland Security. Return any subagency that existed prior to 9/11/2001 to the agency it came from, and close any new ones.

5. Reduce foreign aid to 2001 levels, adjusted for inflation.

6. Stop naming shit after Ronald Reagan.

1. I agree with everything except #6. I think "shit" and "Ronald Reagan" should be synonymous. (nt)

4. Yeah, but what do you want to do?
An idea...I am certain there is a federal prison that has a dairy farm. Seeing as how they've got to do SOMETHING with the manure, what is preventing them from bagging it up as "Reagan-Gro" or something similar and selling it as the one Reagan-associated item that will cause growth.

2. And cut the military contractors by 85%, and let our soldiers get the money
for doing the work that is paid to contractors.

3. +1. Add to that Medicare for all, massive green energy projects and a
National maglev high speed rail. You've got to spend money to make money, and getting Americans healthy, out of debt and back to work will go a long ways toward killing our deficit.

6. Another suggestion: trim the military budget by 50%
It's easy, low-hanging fruit.

7. How about just getting rid of the Marine Corps?
The Marines are a redundant force: the Army and the Air Force are capable of doing everything the Marines do, but the Marines are not large enough to do what the Army and USAF do.

If you were to get rid of the Marines and replace it with two more Army Special Forces Groups and five more Navy SEAL Teams to deal with the rapid-insertion work that is the Marines' only reason to be, you could defend the US as well as it is now for a lot less money.
