He wasn't trivializing it. He was talking about the atmosphere of where he had just been. There were nasses of people but they were very peaceful and more. There were volunteers cleaning the streets and more kept pitching in. Some were directing traffic. I think some were passing out food/drinkl? I know they said some trained medical professionals were checking out people and helping those who needed some help.
The point was it wasn't an atmosphere of angst and anger at that point, it was a very upbeat atmosphere. It was a good thing
