They Keep Stealing – Why Keep Paying?
http://www.dylanratigan.com/2011/02/03/they-keep-stealing-why-keep-paying/

This article was first published on the Huffington Post on June 24, 2010 12:04 PM.

The dire straits of the middle class of America has made it near impossible for our politicians to keep up the pretense that our current government truly works for the “people.” Between the multiple overt and secretive bailouts, the massive bonuses and the circular use of our tax money to lobby for these continued handouts, you can no longer hide from the evidence.

When Senator Durbin said “The banks… frankly own this place,” you realize it was not in jest.

Couple this with recent protections handed by the Supreme Court to corporations to directly influence elections and it can make things seem hopeless for those not on Wall Street or their chosen politicians. Favored CEOs and now even foreign countries get all the printed money they need, leaving us paying both our bills and theirs.

2. dire straits
Yes, and unfortunately the Teabaggers and Rethugs were able to capitalize on middle class fears quite effectively. Dems
need to push back with their own onslaught of information and action against "overt and secretive bailouts, the massive bonuses and the circular use of our tax money to lobby for these continued handouts"

4. The Dems need to start acting like Dems
That's the real problem here.

They can't do it though- corp money is the only money now, so if you want to win the seat, you have to favor the corps.

System fail.

...we'll be able to learn to approach it differently, using social media ( i know, i know--corporate-owned, too) to connect on a
more tangible level as a socio-mind in real-time, and thwart the overseers. How? dunno.
I know, dream on...

6. We can change minds
I do it all the time. The problem is changing the culture and the rules.

Baby steps will have to suffice until people come out firmly against the system, not just criticizing aspects of it.

3. The greatest heist in history is in progress right now.
Lots of people are aware of it. Don't see anyone trying to stop it, especially among our politicians.
