CSPAN2 11:15 a.m. - The Military-Industrial Complex 50 Years Later
On the fiftieth anniversary of President Eisenhower's farewell address, delivered on January 17, 1961, William Hartung and David Eisenhower, grandson of Dwight Eisenhower, talked about the address, focusing on the portion in which he warned about the growth of a "military-industrial complex" in the United States. William Hartung's latest book, Prophets of War, chronicles the rise of the military contractor Lockheed Martin. David Eisenhower's latest book, Going Home to Glory, looks at President Eisenhower's life after he dellivered the speech and left the White House. They responded to questions from members of the audience. This event was hosted by Barnes & Noble Booksellers in New York City.
