if sarah palin is elected president in 2012....what will you do?
seriously, what would you do in that scenario?

certainly, it's highly unlikely that the US would grow dumb enough to elect palin. but with dieboldt and other republican dirty tricks, anything is possible i guess.

so, if it happens, what will you personally do?

leave the country?

stay and just deal with it?

hit the streets and protest?

7. Good answer. I'd cry since I no longer drink.
Probably end up locking myself in my house and only going out for supplies. If I stayed away from the news, maybe I could ignore the chaos that would ensue with a dumber, more ignorant idiot that W in charge of the country.

21. My favorite Outlaw Josey Wales quote. That's about all that most of us can do
because most of us do live lives of quiet desperation. Most of us do not have the money or option of simply leaving the country (besides, without money what other country would want us) and neither do we have the luxury of taking to the streets. No, most of us will just have to do the best we can do.

i imagine there's a point where people would leave, but i wonder how bad things have to get.

people didn't leave when bush got elected. would palin be any worse than bush? they're both too dumb to govern and are both merely puppets for the same group of corporatists. what would be different between a palin presidency and the bush presidency?

...asteroids, alien invasions, zombies, Mayan prophecies -- you know, real threats.

No one with 50%, or more unfavorables, two years out, with 100% name recognition, will ever win the Republican nomination, never mind the White House.

If she wins the nomination, Nebraska and South Dakota would go Democratic for the first time since '64.

That's how toxic she is.

Now I have to go reset the leprechaun detector.

70. attitudes like this is exactly how it COULD happen
I'm sure that many of us never thought that * would get "elected" in 2000, and even less of us thought he would get re-elected in 2004. NONE of us here in Florida would have ever thought that Rick Scott would have a chance in hell of becoming governor - absolutely no political experience, and a huge fraud scandal hanging over his head.

Like it or not, she IS a major figure in the GOP, a darling for the Tea Party movement. With the economy in the crapper, it's difficult to say exactly how voters will act.

93. Nobody would have ever given Rick Scott a chance in hell to become Florida's governor
A year ago at this time, many people would have rolled their eyes and scoffed if you had suggested that Rick Scott would be our governor. For one, he was going up against Bill McCollum in the GOP primary, someone with tons of political experience and the full backing of the GOP establishment. Secondly, Rick Scott has absolutely no political experience at all. Finally, he had the whole Columbia/HCA fraud scandal swirling around him.

And yet, somehow he got himself elected.

33. sure it ain't gonna happen (probably)......
...it was just a hypothetical question.

i don't however count her out just yet as the repuke nominee and here's why:repub voters are morons.

and if it ain't palin, it could posibly end up being someone equally as frightening, like gingrich or huckabee.

my guess is that it will be romney who wins the repuke primary, but you never know. if the fundies decide they don't want a mormon they could make a big showing and tilt things toward hickabee or palin, especially if the teabagger movement is still alive.

looking at the whole lineup of repuke hopefuls, romney appears to be the least frightening......and he looks like a slimy used car salesman! imagine sarah palin, newt gingrich, rick santorum, mike hickabee or michelle bachman as the republican candidate for president in 2012.

57. I'm in the camp that welcomes Palin as the opponent.
And to those that say "Ut Ut UT! Reagan and Bewsh II got put in the White House twice, didn't they?" . . . .

Reagan was a convincing corporate spokesperson, had folksy demeanor and was groomed to succeed what was perceived at the time as a very weak presidency. With no strong challengers in his way and corporate America on his side, this was a "Right Person, Right Time" situation for the GOP.

Bewsh 43 got in because of his name, his daddy's buddies on the Supreme Court, blatant election theft, Gore's horrible campaign (selecting Lieberman and moving away from the positive attributes of the Clinton Administration didn't help matters) a mostly unvigilant public & internet, stupidity from independents and dirty trickery from Rove.

This isn't 1980 or 2000.

Sarah Palin only has the support of this country's grizzled nutjob Tea Klux Klan contingent and the religious whackjobs. She freely and without care aligns herself with the fringest of the fringe right wing-ding groups. Anyone with a brain stem can see this woman isn't qualified to run a Burger King, let alone this country. She's a tabloid comedy act. Thinking conservatives really aren't that jazzed about her, her family or her irresponsible behavior, which is why they're understandably concerned about 2012. I don't really even think she has near the media support Bewsh and Reagan did.

They know deep down she wouldn't even pose a remote threat to Barack Obama's re-election chances, and chances are, she's pretty much who they'll be stuck running with. Despite what you read on DU, most of the people who voted for Obama are glad they did. I just don't see her gaining any Obama states.

Plus, are we forgetting that three debates have to happen? Is Palin seriously being given a ghost of a chance in ANY of them? Did anyone remember that her debates against Biden were doctored? What's she going to run on? Her 1.5 years as a governor? Her ability to indebt a state that's less populated than Columbus, Ohio? Her astounding economic acumen, which consists of the same failed strategies that caused this mess?

62. B...b....b..... but Sarah Palin is the victim----because it's all about her!
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was in critical but stable condition following emergency surgery and hospitalization, in what her doctor said was directly related to the Jan. 8 shooting in Arizona. Dr. Gerry Billings, Palin’s surgeon at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska, said Palin became ill on a flight back to her home state Sunday night.

Billings noted that Palin had been playing the victim ever since the Arizona shooting and this, coupled with a dangerously enlarged ego, was too much for her cranial cavity to handle. Palin was taken from the airport straight to the hospital, where she underwent a partial ego-ectomy and treatment for victimitis.

“Her chief medical doctor had been warning our former governor that she had an enlarged ego, yet she declined to step out of the limelight,” Billings said. “She was also hit with an extreme case of victimitis over the past few weeks and as we all know these affect the same area of the brain. This region was so swollen that frankly I’m surprised she was even able to function. Only her strong willpower and complete lack of self-awareness kept her alive this long.”

If she becomes "The Queen of the Land", then the country we all know and love, will be no more.

71. When I've run out of material to fuel my projectile vomiting,
I expect I'd take to the streets. I can't leave the country and I can't imagine just bending over and taking a Palin administration you-know-where.

75. She won't be. So I'm not even worried about it.
Better yet - she is a promise to Dems of another 4 years. They HAD their puppet for 8 years, changing the gender won't make any difference. I think this all comes from Pelosi/Clinton domination fear.

I'd just wait her out. Anymore the real control is in the hands of the corporations so they can deal with her if she was to become "leader".

84. Run Naked in the Streets, screaming.
Edited on Sat Feb-05-11 08:04 PM by Countdown_3_2_1
If this horrid event happens,,,please join me.
Hmmm. Wait this will be in November...

OK, join me in the streets of Orlando running and screaming in the thousands.
and then lets do Disney Downtown...naked. we can swarm that New Years Eve bar.

If you're watching the results, and the impossible begins to happen. Drink a 5 hour energy drink, dive down to Orlando, get a hotel room. sleep for a bit. Do another 5 hour drink, and meet me at Disney downtown.
---Believe me. We will drive the news of Miss Prissy right off the tube.

Can you think of a better way to start off 4 years of cuthulu madness?

Travel around the farm in the pouch of a kangaroo to save gas, and eat wild jack rabbit meat more often.

not get an ulcer.

So much of everything doesn't change with WH occupant change, so I won't either.
