Thought I would pass this along here: How to self publish with Amazon Kindle, 70% royalty
I have a kindle (had a nook, gave to my Daughter) with about 2000 books (many were PDF's from Archive.org, Project Gutenberg and such that I converted over to a more friendly to read format).

When I got my Kindle I did some research and found the link below - an easy way to publish your own books via kindle/Amazon (** Note, you don't need a Kindle to read books, you can download kindle for PC for free).

You can publish free books, or charge for them (again, whether you have a kindle or not).

A small tip (for those who don't already know) - You can write your books/poems/etc in any format and convert to PDF for free using Cute PDF (basically you print your work to a PDF file instead of to a printer), you can also download Open Office for free (which is great for writing and can save to PDF).

If anyone else has any ideas or tips (or needs more with the kindle and converting or easily organizing book collections on the Kindle) let us/me know.

1. I've republished most of my old books on Kindle
as well as other platforms, and also two new ones.

Sales aren't spectacular, but they're sales for old books that were otherwise dead. And for two new books that I had concluded would otherwise be dead.

6. Was it worth it?
I wrote 2 books that are out of print, I was thinking of re-publishing in PDF format, but I don't know if it would be worth the time and trouble.

11. It's worth the effort to me
As I said, the few sales are sales that wouldn't have happened otherwise. And the books remain available, so there's always the chance of one of them suddenly getting a boost via word of mouth. It's not much of a chance, but if I hadn't reissued them digitally, the chance of that happening would be zero.

9. K&R & Thank You Very Much for that very useful info!
I haven't got a Kindle yet, I'm weighing up whether to get an iPad or a PC Tablet. This latest news makes the decision even harder: http://www.thehindu.com/sci-tech/article1159846.ece">Honeycomb promises to hot up tablet PC race

I am looking into starting a digital magazine I've been conceptualizing and was wondering how I could make money out of it apart from just advertising.

I've added you to my Buddies list in case I miss any more of your very informative posts in the future. :hi:

Thanks again!

If I find anything I think others will find useful, I'll come back and add here.
