Happy 100th Birthday President Ronald Reagan! Thread of wishes and thanks!

I named my daughter after you, sir. You will always be one of my biggest heroes in life and I thank God every day that I lived and grew up during your presidency. Happy Birthday Big Guy! Thanks for the legacy!

This is the best thread have seen for the tribute to the Gipper. America has been blessed.

The best happened, not the worst (should I mention Jimmi Carter), when America was blessed with the child, then the Man, named Ronald Reagan. This blessing, of a mere man, sent by God (surely) overwhelms me sometimes. This man, Ronald Reagan, gave America everything he had. I simply Loved Him. I loved him, though never met him. When the day came and someone attempted to kill him, my heart fell on the floor, ran fast as I could to find the news, prayed, wept, prayed, wept, and when I saw the wave of his hand from the hospital room, with Nancy by his side, my heart rose up from the floor, jumped for joy, and back to full attention for ... our nation America... and I was inspired. He (Ronald Reagan) is only One of My Heroes (George Washington and Thomas Jefferson come to mind), He (Ronald Reagan) is also source of pride (Thomas Paine / Ben Franklin style comes to mind). Pride in our nation, pride in Americans, pride that even the born child can do great things, speak great words, and live to be in what I believe, the presence of God. God blessed us, no doubt, when God sent America, this child to grow up and lead our nation. Praying God will send America, send all of us Americans, someone who can fill the shoes of Ronald Reagan. Or God, if you can send the Gipper back, that will do.

Reagan won the cold war, a feat no less great than George Washington achieved over the British.

He did it by never letting his critics keep him from doing the right thing, whether it was firing PATCO or giving the Berlin Wall speech and asking the commies to tear down the wall.

God blessed the USA with Reagan, and lets hope he does again and enables our next POTUS to cripple the corrupt and degenerate marxist public and private sector unions by declaring all States of this union to be "Right to Work States"

The most important man in my life — other than my father who preached his word every day.
Reagan is the greatest man of the 20th century. period.

1. Why do conservatives love kitsch?
NT. Also, about the right-to-work stuff above in the freeper post - don't freepers have to work for a living? Or, are most of them on entitlement programs?

9. fascist aesthetics favor kitsch
Mind numbering literalness removes controversy

As to "right to work", this literally means "no union contracts allowed"

You have the "right" to have any job without having to join a union

You now understand their concept of freedom - we are all not truly free unless we are working for the lowest possible wage and subject to every whim of the boss

16. They think Reagan pooped red, white, and blue poo
I once had to correct a conservative many years ago who thought Ronnie had served in the military. No, I told him - I think you're confusing reality with old movies - he only served in uniform on a backlot.

In a costume.

They were shocked. Shocked!

7. Their belief in myths is striking.
The actual Reagan was nothing like the mythical Reagan they now worship.

12. It's like 1956 Elvis versus 1977 Elvis.
Both the same guy, both an image presented to the public to represent the man inside. Neither may be an accurate representation of the "real" man.
