Abandoning The 9/11 Heroes, America's Disgrace
Abandoning The 9/11 Heroes, America's Disgrace
posted with permission from: http://sane-ramblings.blogspot.com/2010/12/abandoning-911-heroes-national-disgrace.html

After the passenger planes hit New York's Twin Towers, and they began collapsing, a desperate call for help went to New York's police, firefighters, paramedics and other emergency personnel. Volunteers quickly joined them as they arrived in force.

But as the thick acidic smoke permeated the air, it was almost impossible to see and thousands of people fled the billowing plumes before they were overwhelmed and sickened by them. But the heroes didn't question their role as they fought to rescue as many people as they could.

Some died horrible deaths during the battle. And as they collapsed other courageous people took their place.

Afterward, across the U.S. and the world, they were celebrated for the heroes they were and in the face of the 9/11 tragedy, Americans could not have been prouder of them.

That was in 2001. Since then many of those brave people have died from the toxic exposure of those crucial hours and many more are gravely ill. They are appealing to the U.S. government for financial assistance.

Who comes to their rescue? No-one. Congress tabled the motion and those gallant souls are left to fight their battle alone. Why? Congress claims to be too busy, as they are anxious to recess for the holidays. But those heroes weren't too busy when that fateful call came to them on 9/11.

If Congress' callous conduct bothers you as it does me, please raise your voice. Now it is our turn to do the right thing on behalf of those who desperately call upon us as we once fervently called upon them.

1. I am confused
I thought I heard on MSNBC today that this bill would be brought up tomorrow, was I mistaken?

If they don't take this up before the holidays I too will be very upset since I thought it was going to get done!

3. I heard Reid say
There were several more votes tomorrow, but he didn't say what they were, except for the START treaty. It was right after the vote on MSNBC that they had a list of three things up for a vote one was START, the other was the 9/11 bill, and I think the other one was a short term bill to keep the government going till after the new congress came in. Things could have changed, I don't know for sure either.

4. Regarding the 9/11 Heroes....
...today's Los Angeles Times gushed all over itself about the bold actions of Congress ending "Don't Ask, Don't Tell,"
As usual, there was no mention of the First Responders Protection Act of 2010, so I went to Google News. That Bill died a quite death, which is what is happening to many First Responders.
