McCain - repeal of DADT will cause great harm to battle effectiveness of US military...
Edited on Sat Dec-18-10 05:24 PM by old mark
Johnny, there have been gays in everyone's military since the military was invented...all this enables them to do is to serve their country without having to lie and hide.
John McCain is a shame on the US Senate and on the people who elected him.

1. John McCain's selection of Sarah Palin has brought great harm to this country.
John McCain is a nasty beast. Whatever credibility he once had disappeared years ago.

3. Lt Dan Choi just did a phone interview with CNN and basically said
McCain is nuts. He used a phrase like 'a screw loose' or something like that.

7. McCain, just sit down and shut up.
You were put in your place in 2008. You are just a bitter, vindictive, irrelevant old fool.

8. John McCain is a senile, doddering troll that has lost all grasp with reality
His bitter vindictiveness over his failed 2008 wage for president has caused him to embrace every immoral position imaginable. I can only hope the remaining time he has with us of this world is short.

16. Yep. He just oozes hate for the uppity n----r who had the termerity
to take his, (McCain's) God-given right to be President away from him. He just sits and spews bile on everything and everybody, and is determined as he can be to go out, hopefully soon, as one of the nastiest members of the Senate.

9. I have no doubt McCain served with several gays in the Navy when he
was on active duty, and never knew it. He is a ridiculous old pig, and, you are right, he has outlived any usefulness he once had and should step down.

Of course, he won't - he loves the spotlight and the power.

11. Senator, run that one by
Alexander the Great, Richard Lionheart, Frederick the Great, T. E. Lawrence. Their troops didn't seem particularly ineffective.

Or to put it another way, do you have any examples of an unit falling apart because a gay or lesbian was assigned?

12. Is that what he's aiming for by continuing to spread his hatred? Move on, gramps!
Right is right; wrong is wrong. We get it: you're against civil rights for all & you think you're above some people because they're different than you.

17. Of Course, GOP Psy-Ops Are Arguing That It Would Make No Difference If He Were President
The Log Cabin Republicans gave their own party a free pass on DADT for years, and failed to loudly call out John McCain who opposed the repeal of DADT:

http://www.upi.com/Top_News/2008/09/03/Log-Cabin-Republicans-endorse-McCain/UPI-20521220439614/

ST. PAUL, Minn., Sept. 3 (UPI) -- A group of gay men and women say they have endorsed U.S. Sen. John McCain as their nominee for U.S. president because he is an "inclusive Republican."

The Log Cabin Republicans endorsed McCain, R-Ariz., Tuesday at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn., CNN reported.

"He's a very inclusive Republican, a different type of Republican," said the group's president Patrick Sammon. "At the same time, we have honest disagreements on some issues."

While McCain opposes same-sex marriage, he also opposed a federal constitutional amendment that would have defined marriage as being between a man and a woman.

18. I've hated McCain with a passion (before DADT) and am glad he's saying things like this
It's like that bit on the Daily Show that parodied the, "It Gets Better," commercials targeted for LGBT youth, except for McCain, it was, "It Gets Worse." X number of years from now (and it will be sooner than we think), when gays are full citizens of the country and can marry, join the military, etc., and the majority of people don't bat an eye at it, documentaries on the fight for gay rights will be made, and DADT will be a big part of it. Documentaries - like most movies - need a bad guy, and while the religious right in general will be featured, McCain will be individually featured as the gay rights equivalent of Wallace standing in the doorway of schools in the 60s screaming, "Segregation Forever."

And to make him more evil, buffoonish, etc., they will dig up his past. His so called heroic military career will be cast in a negative light. The Keating Five debacle which had all but faded from public memory will be brought up again for a whole new generation. Sarah Palin, who is already extremely unpopular (the media just haven't gotten the memo), will be even more of a national joke and forever tied to McCain, and McCain's final years in the Senate will show him as a bitter, doddering fool suffering from dementia.

This is ultimately how people will remember him, and it makes me glad.
