21. Nope, not surprised - but even our toe the line Repug Senator Burr made the right
vote at the end. Guess I need to call his office Monday and thank him for doing something right for once - seems only fair

3. I'd qualify a lot of those names
Arcuri, Carney, Dahlkemper, Hill, Kratovil, Melancon, Minnick, Mitchell, Murphy, Pomeroy, Salazar, Nye and Wilson all lost.

Gordon and Moore are retiring.

So they all get a political freebie in not having to face their red district voters ever again.

On the other hand, 77% of voters favored repeal. That's the level of support you need from the public to even have a chance of getting he Blue Dogs to vote with you.

4. Melancon didn't run for re-election to the House. He ran against Vitter for the Senate.

5. As I said, he lost
I only noted that those particular people lost. I did not specify if it was a reelection race or a race for higher office.

6. But you did specify "district"
Oh well, let's just be grateful that DADT is soon to be history.

7. Yes, time to celebrate
I was hoping for a little of your haiku. I enjoyed the last ones--but, apparently, your haiku gets threads locked. :)

9. How many voted against it?
Because about half of that list is leaving the Congress. So how many Blue Dawgs voted against repeal?

11. It is amazing how many progressives prefer to lose rather than work with others on mutual goals

14. It isn't the working with part that is the catch but what must be sacrificed to get
them to go along with supposedly "shared goals".

See, if you have to horse trade and beg to get support then it is reasonably safe to assume that goals aren't so very shared at all.

Talk to me when we're talking about the money and I'll be happy to reevaluate.

16. Rec because I would rather have a Dem voting with us some of the time than a Rethug who never does
Edited on Sat Dec-18-10 06:14 PM by NNN0LHI
Not really all that complicated. Though a lot of people seem to be unable to wrap their minds around something as simple as that. But then Bush once had a +90% approval rating so I guess it is not too surprising that we have our share of goof balls.
