A disease of the media...
Edited on Sun Feb-06-11 05:17 PM by kentuck
Thirty years after after Reagan defeated Carter for the White House, the media continue to lead the chorus in the idolatry of this below-average intellect and president.

Certainly, much of America's opinion of Reagan is and was formed by the media during the 80's and afterwards, and those most influenced by the media's interpretations were those young people, many conservatives, between the ages of 18-25 years of age, including our present President.

The continuing idolatry and myth of Reagan is a disease. It is a delusion created by those that most profited from the policies of Ronald Reagan, ie, regulations are bad and taxes are too high. Government is evil. The media promoted those ideas every day until we are where we are today.

Those folks that remember the 80's more clearly and much less fondly know the truth. What the media is propagating today is not the truth. Those that believe those lies are dangerously delusional.

1. Who owns the media? What happens when you work
for a corporation? Same thing.

A corporation can do what it wants with, and on, its property. A mega-corporation can do even more and the influence and control are equal to its financial might. The conglomerates abound, their will be done. The perception that it is "our" media is crucial to that. Corporate media is "theirs" and they are legion and they will do as they choose and what best serves their own self-interest -- just don't think that's the case and keep watching. It works far too well to fool with.

The old idea of "public" airwaves is now nostalgia. The assumption of legitimacy is the drug that keeps the facade spewing forth its 24/7, scripted, methodical platform of manipulation and misinformation. Be it by focusing on some subjects, or excluding and/or downplaying others, MSM news is only one part of the non-stop entertainment that distracts and diffuses the viewers.

Don't expect much in the way of honest, important coverage, free of propaganda, spin and policy-laden opinions -- well, just enough bits and pieces here and there to maintain the illusion of substance and objective reporting.
