Ronald Reagan was a truly mythical figure
Everything about him celebrated today are myths. A sampler:

His patriotism was a myth (Arguably, he committed treason).

His fiscal conservatism was a myth. (We're still paying for it)

His "sunny optimism" was a myth. (Ask any of the grape pickers who were on strike while his was governor)

His leadership qualities were a myth (Beruit->Marine Barracks->Retreat->Grenada)(Dementia)

His concern for "all Americans" (Ketchup? Really?)

Name some other myths the right wingers love to cite about their sainted Ronnie.

5. MOre of his "concern for all Americans".... Cut HUD to ribbons and began the Homelessness Epidemic,
cut 417,000 disabled people from disability, resulting in thousands and thousands of suicides.

6. Funnily enough, we caught a Reagan special on the Military Channel the other night....
And I could hear the Reaganites all over the country collectively beating it. It was horrible. Most of it was lies and they acted as if the wall fell only because of him. When in truth all the leaders all over the world had been pressuring the Russians to get rid of their unsustainable oppressive government. (Side note: democracy isn't working to well for them either. They have to go back to Socialism if they really want to survive. That country is so full of corruption and people are hurting, some would say more so, than back in the 70s and 80s).
Anyway, that might all be BS, but that's what what I have been reading has shown me...

10. The reason why repubs see him as this mythical figure is because he was the most successful
2 term repub president who didn't get impeached. Nixon was damaged goods, Eisenhower compromised too much, and bush 41 compromised and lost to Clinton. They had to polish reagan's legacy as a matter of neccessity.
