2. Put them on a map
and then cross post with history of cheap labor.

Yes that includes Montana believe it or not. But Arkansas and North Carolina... don't get me started on the history.

Oh and Tyson foods does come to mind in at least one case, I suspect there is something about that.

3. I feel certain that Ben Nelson was heavily lobbied by anti-immigration folks in NE
Their movement has grown considerably in the last year or so.

16. They don't organize if they are illegal even though they can
they also don't sue or call OSHA and they take their wages as they are told - no fuss because the employer CAN call INS on them.

Anything that gets closer to what should be an open system of either naturalization or documenting their presence is harmful to employers like Smithfield, Tyson, and any agriculture operation - THEY are the ones stopping anything from happening.

13. I may be wrong but, a while back I believe
I read that NC is 'the' largest employers of undocumented workers.

Could be just another brain glitch. I seriously can't keep up with so much information. :( I'll try harder :P

14. No you did not read wrong
in Mexico the Feds went after Tyson for subcontracting to Polleors to get the workers north.

Something 'bout human trafficking

http://www.unhcr.org/refworld/type,ANNUALREPORT,,MEX,4c1883dac,0.html

Though this UNHCR deals with traffic from outside, there is also prosecution of those working for American companies. Understand, that some of these sleeze balls have tried to buy the authorities and at times gone to the NAFTA court.

The Mexican Government has been running campaigns trying to convince people that El Norte is not that golden.

5. Should foreign students who get a phd have the option for immediate citizenship?
I am in favor of the dream act. However I wonder if progressives really want competition from the best and brightest of other countries?

20. I was on the OFA phone banks: It's NOT immediate citizenship. If they complete
either one of the requirements, their presence in this country is made legal and THEN they can do the naturalization process for citizenship.

22. foreign students are leaving the US back to their countries these days
Why stay in the US the land of no jobs, when you can go back to China as a highly educated professional. So more and more they are going back. We are training the worlds engineers and scientists, but mostly they aren't ending up Americans. That ain't a good thing.

as the ACT states, sure.

Mind you most foreign students are LEAVING the US. It is NO LONGER the land of opportunity. That has moved EAST.

8. Reason why some voted against the DREAM act:
Because it was to be funded by closing loopholes in rules concerning foreign corporations' payment of taxes. Can't let those poor corporations suffer. AARRGGHH.

21. Right! Reps actually REALLY like this one & will try to claim it as their own in the next
Congress, so Dems will have to take the high road & not fight it, even though Reps are going to try to take credit for it, IMO.
