Guadalupe Mexico: Ericka Gandara, Last Police Officer, Missing
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/12/28/guadalupe-mexico-ericka-g_n_802091.html

I know the "Egypt" show is all important right now. MSM has been all over this for weeks now, but WHEN will we face this problem of Mexico. The drug cartels have all but taken over northern Mexico, and yet I don't see any reaction from the US on this. A lot of towns in Mexico have NO law enforcement of ANY kind. I happen to live within 150 miles of the border and I am starting to see and feel the effects of what's going on, and it frankly scares the s*it out of me.

I support the people of Egypt, and just wonder when the US will start to support the people of Mexico.

On a side note: I know many, many illegals here in South Texas, and I know what they have been thru. They would gladly go home, if there was a home to go to.

1. It's only going to get worse. Mexico has both drug and OIL problems.
As Mexico's oil production plummets, so goes the national economy. All that drug trade is doing is just filling in the gap -- for now.

Once Mexico no longer has a substantial amount of oil to export, it's game over. And that time is coming very soon, if the collapse of the Cantarell oil field is any indication; not to mention that many of their production figures include likely vastly inflated forecasts for future field discoveries. Another Saudi Arabia, anyone?

I keep saying here that by the end of this decade we will be fighting an all-out border war with Mexico over this, and the saddest part is that probably 90% or more of the casualties will be innocent bystanders from both countries.

2. I agree, except the casualties already number in the millions. On both sides.

4. Any war to help Mexico is going to begin by closing the borders completely...
and sending in our troops.

Can you think of any President who's going to take those steps any time soon?? None of them will. I think they're holding out hoping all the drug gangs kill each other off without our intervention.

sorry, let me clarify. Mexico, for those of you who don't know/care, has been invaded twice by foreign armies (three times if you really want to be technical). The reaction has never been good.

Invading Mexico on the pretext of "helping" them is total bunk. It would light a tinder box that the US would not be able to put out. And you think there's problems in US border cities now? How 'bout millions of refugees flooding the border?
