Wael Ghonim speaks - read this and weep!
http://parkerspitzer.blogs.cnn.com/2011/02/11/wael-ghonim-im-proud-to-be-egyptian/
<snip>

"Congratulations Egypt the criminal has left the palace," said one of the movement's key activists, Wael Ghonim, in a Twitter post, as demonstrations that began with quiet determination on the internet more than three weeks ago erupted into riotous jubilation Friday evening, moments after it was announced that Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was stepping aside.

I just want to say to Hosni Mubarak and to Omar Suleiman and to all those people who thought that being in power means you can oppress people, you know, hard-luck guys, you know, at the end of the day, we have a choice and we've made our choice, by the way very early enough and you should have respected that. You are responsible of the killings of 300 innocent Egyptians. You guys paid the price, are still going to pay the price. It's enough, it's enough for you guys that in history books they're going to talk to you - they'll say one word to describe you, a dictator.

My mission is over. I want to go back to see my kids. I want to go back to start working. I want to be a normal person and this is about the Egyptians. Those guys - I'm not worried about this country seeing all these people in the street right now.

We are dreamers and we made it happen and it's time now to celebrate for a couple of days and then go back and start thinking about how can we develop the strategy and what's the best for us.

1. I love that picture of the old woman (like me) thanking the young
person for going out and demonstrating and fighting for all that can't do it.

It takes the young,with support and encouragement from the old.

Nice.

2. The picture is more than that -here's the caption
Egyptian executive at Google and cyberactivist Wael Ghonim and the mother of Khaled Said, who was allegedly tortured and killed in 2010 by Egyptian policemen in Alexandria, sit in Cairo's Tahrir square on February 8, 2011 following the former's release late on February 7 after being held blindfolded by the Egyptian security service for 12 days.

He was very upset about the murder of her son.

3. That old woman
Edited on Fri Feb-11-11 05:42 PM by eissa
is the mother of Khaled Said, the young man that was brutally tortured and killed by Egyptian security forces. His murder is what prompted Wael to start the "We are all Khaled" FB page that helped launch this revolt.

Edit: man, you guys are quick! malaise beat me to the punch.
