2. Why don't we allow the Egyptians to name it.
Just as a courtesy.

12. +100. It does seem a little presumptuous to try to name
someone else's revolution, doesn't it?

6. They seem to use #Feb11 for the Rev., just as #Jan25 was the demo.

I've also seen #NewEgypt in use referring to going forward, and there's #EgyptCongrats for the well-wishes.

Another interesting one since Friday is #ThingsIveLearned.

That's on Twitter. I "liked" their FB page but I can't read it, and am not on FB much. So what they're calling it there or in print may be different. I did hear a correspondent or two use the term "New Egypt" though, in tv reports. Maybe that'll be it.

I agree though, it'll have to be their call on that.

8. In Tunisia, it was called the "Jasmine Revolution"
Edited on Sun Feb-13-11 03:55 PM by onestepforward
"The event was soon dubbed the “Jasmine Revolution,” a symbolic reference to a blooming flower."

9. It is more akin to the revolution in Romania.
Where a brutal dictator tried to sic the military on non-violent protesters and the military refused to go along with the dictator's orders.

17. I tend to favor "The Egyptian Revolution".
But perhaps I'm too unimaginative to think of a color or fragrance.

19. Let's see where it ends up first.
It might be the "fake" revolution, or the "military" revolution, or the "islamic" revolution, or any of a hundred different outcomes.

Right now the military is in charge and no one knows what will be the long term government.

20. The military left holding the reigns of power after 300+ die...
That hardly seems comparable to the Velvet Revolution.
