Seems like we're pretty seriously fucked
I spent two hours driving today, listening to the radio. Everything seemed to be about attacking the poor, slashing out-of-control "entitlements ", permanently-high unemployment, and all sorts of fantasy presented as truth. And that was on NPR.

Damn.

1. Why don't you just wait and see if it actually happens or not, hmmmm?
Edited on Mon Feb-14-11 08:15 PM by Brickbat
You know, a budget is just a proposal, and it's not like it's going to happen, and it's certainly better than what the Republicans might put together, and you should just wait and see if any of it passes at all before you get all jumpy like this.

Ahem.

ETA, because clearly I'm too good: This response was sarcastic; I'm actually very tired of this response to every bad idea Obama comes up with.

I know! Let's wait until after it's passed to do something. After all, only then we'll know if it's for real.

22. Jumpy?
Jumpy?

Bailing out the banking cartels is getting JUMPY? Publicizing debt run up by corporate financial terrorists (bail us out, or else!) is JUMPY?

Treating the American people to "getting a little more in your paycheck" because Congress is once again illegally raiding the Social Security fund IS JUMPY?

If you've got that much phlegm in your throat, I suggest getting it suctioned out and JUMPING INTO REALITY.

WAKE UP!

Waiting to see what happens is what screwed us on HCR and the Tax Deal. This is the time to raise a stink - not after they shove more crap down our throats.

It's the wrong policy, the wrong direction, and not a solution at all.

The solution is to increase taxes on the wealthy and wealthy corporations, end the wars and so forth.

It's so simple, everyone understands it. Even those trying to sell us more of the same.

Oh crap! - Were you being sarcastic??? Oops!

Edited on Mon Feb-14-11 08:08 PM by WingDinger
People would like to avoid that just out of general principle, so they gave the repubs the batshit crazy house. This has been conflated by repubs to contain a mandate, that allows them to turn back the clock to whatever time they deem useful. The time they choose, is coincidentally, right before Obama took the oath. They are speaking way too loud about cutting all the old and poor, working class and minorities, women and non-corporate persons. It is getting ripe for an egyptian moment, within their party. They will lose, with spitting at all those constituencies, unless they go fascist. That is what we must watch.

It's unbelievable how he is attacking Obama with the nastiest and over-the-top rhetoric. I guess his mouth-breathers love it though. I finally turned him off but could not find any liberal station. Hannity, however, was everywhere on the dial (Georgia-Tennessee).

pick up the pieces. And this will mean tax increases on those levels to compensate for lost federal money. It is this, or we will have to step over old people, families, vets, and every downtrodden group when we walk down the sidewalks.

The audacity of slashing programs for heating and food and even calling what we pay into as an "entitlement".

How dare we accept bailing out banks who are "too big to fail", which is the most outlandish form of public taking on debt or socialism for the corporate banksters. When, in fact, WE are to big to fail.

We ARE the country... and I am SICK of it being the other way around.

I do NOT care if anyone thinks this is an over-reaction.

In fact, we have been for so long UNDER reacting.

In a very short time, I believe this will come to a thunderous head because we can not afford to keep "taking it up the ass" anymore than the Arab nations have lived with the little dictators who were our little dictators.

Too late IMO.

They've been bending over backwards for years now to be "fair and balanced". Despite the editorial appeasement it looks like the Republicans are going to push for CPB funding elimination anyway.

Who knows? They might go back to their crusading roots if the need to pander was eliminated.
