But hey, we've got tax cuts for the rich!
As we watch the spectacle of Obama cutting deeply into such programs as LIHEAP and Pell Grants, we need to remember, this is the same president who caved, went back on his promise, and extended the Bush tax cuts for the rich.

It becomes positively surreal to consider cutting off millions from heating assistance, yet granting the rich a tax cut that makes them even more obscenely wealthy.

Eight six billion dollars, that is how much those tax cuts are going to cost us this year, and the next, and given the spineless wonderment of DC Dems, probably the next year and year after as well.

But a poor single mother and her family are going to freeze next winter.

An elderly couple are going to lie huddled in their bed next winter, trying to stay warm.

A family of four is going to go without food, just so they can heat their home.

A young high school graduate is going to be consigned to fast food hell because they can't afford college without Pell Grant money.

But millionaires and billionaires are going to continue to get their low, low, bargain basement tax rate.

With every single budget cut, every single cut to a social welfare, we must remember that this was only made possible by the fact that Obama caved on tax cuts for the rich.

Actions have consequences, and sadly it seems as though the poorest, least well off among us are going to suffer the consequences for Obama's cave. Perhaps, come primary time, it is time for Obama to suffer the consequences of his actions. We simply can't afford for our president to continue to give away the farm to the have mores, while the poor, working and middle class have to suffer in order to pay for them.

5. He didn't cave on tax cuts for the rich
He got exactly what he wanted. And lied about it.

6. And the deficit didn't matter then. But it's REALLY important now!
So important we have to take away poor people's heating assistance.

9. And yet it won't even balance the budget. It's a symbollic move to please the far right
in hopes of getting their votes in 2012, since we're expected to vote for "Democrats" no matter how far to the right their policies are.

8. I agree; it's outrageous, criminal and heartbreaking to see those in charge-
both the one who elected and the opposition-conspiring to wage a class war against the most vulnerable while continually pushing the idea that asking for ANY sacrifice or contribution by the wealthy is "unfair". The rich benefit most from the system. They rich do little more than check up on their portfolios, send jobs overseas, pay lobbyists to push for more deregulation and tax breaks, and run the companies they control into the ground then demand bailouts while we, the working people, put in an honest day's labor for a salary that's often half or less of what it was 15 years ago (my salary is 1/5 of what it was in the mid to late 90's, and I work two jobs). What's going on is immoral and downright criminal, and we have to keep calling them all out on it and DEMAND change. If they don't listen, then we go Egyptian along with voting third party.

11. In January 2009, I was just hoping that he wouldn't be the total
triangulator that Clinton clearly was in the last several years of his administration.

Sadly, I can only dream about being in that position again.
